Frequently Asked Questions About Radiator

How do I know what size to order?

Just check your size on the chart. If you are still not sure send us an email with a couple of simple measurements like your height and weight and we will advise you what size to order.

How does Radiator work ?

Radiator has four layers working to keep you warm.

  1. The Nylon jersey outer skin is hard wearing, UV resistant and durable.
  2. Next comes a titanium coating that acts as a highly efficient barrier to the outside cold.
  3. The inner core is made up of 0.50mm closed cell neoprene.
  4. Finally, and just to make sure you stay toasty, there's the "SCS" inner lining. This 'slipskin' enhances the reheating effect of your own body and provides another heat dimension.

Have you had any testing done to see how warm they are?

Yes we have had external independent testing done by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the Australian Wool testing Authority. These boffins are recognised as the experts in textiles in Australia.

Radiator material was found to be lighter, warmer, more slippery (better movement), hold better shape, and last much longer than the opposition. For full results click here.

How will wearing a Radiator effect my performance in the water?

Only for the better! Independent testing has shown that there are significant physiological benefits in terms of temperature retention during exercise in open water when wearing a Radiator vest. Click here for results.

And because the Radiator is so thin, light and flexible, but toasty warm, it's ideal to wear on its own with a pair of boardshorts on those warmer days .

Whatever you are doing, wearing a Radiator means you can wear less rubber. You can combine all sorts of combinations to keep you covered in any conditions. You'll have more flexibility to perform your moves. And don't forget, the warmer you are, the longer you can stay in the water.

Is the Radiator just a fancy rashie?

No. It's actually an incredibly thin and light wetsuit with a four layer construction and a 0.5mm closed cell neoprene core. The joy of the Radiator is that you can wear it as a wetsuit by itself, or under your existing wetty - for extra warmth.

It does also give you 50+ UV protection.

Is it comfortable?

Light, flexible and toasty warm - the Radiator isn't just comfortable, it's like having a second skin! In fact, the "SCS Slipskin" on the inside not only keeps you warm but because it slips against your skin you have less restriction, freer movement and even more flexibility.

So I can wear it under a wetty, or on its own?

Absolutely. In winter when worn under another wetsuit, Radiator will keep you extra warm, and in summer you can wear it by itself with a pair of boardies. It's so light and flexible you'll hardly know you've got it on!

How durable is it?

Care for it as you would any wetsuit (ie just rinse in fresh water after every surf) and your Radiator will last you ages. Our team riders have clocked up hundreds of hours in their Radiators without any dramas at all.

Laboratory testing on a “Martindale” abrasion machine recorded 1850 cycles to wear out?– more than double the opposition fabric!

What Styles does it come in?

Radiator is now available in a whole range of styles including short and long sleeve tops, springsuits, shortjohn and even an incredibly lightweight steamer to name a few.

Mix and match in layers and you can come up with a combination to keep you covered in any conditions.
